“I do not need to elaborate. I am not here to enumerate your problems, I am here to introduce you to a method of solving them. In my bag here, I HAVE A FULL PROOF METHOD FOR CONTROLLING YOUR BLACK SLAVES. I guarantee every one of you that, if installed correctly, IT WILL CONTROL THE SLAVES FOR AT LEAST 300 HUNDREDS YEARS. My method is simple. Any member of your family or your overseer can use it. I HAVE OUTLINED A NUMBER OF DIFFERENCES AMONG THE SLAVES; AND I TAKE THESE DIFFERENCES AND MAKE THEM BIGGER. I USE FEAR, DISTRUST AND ENVY FOR CONTROL PURPOSES. These methods have worked on my modest plantation in the West Indies and it will work throughout the South. Take this simple little list of differences and think about them. On top of my list is ‘AGE,’ but it’s there only because it starts with an ‘a.’ The second is ‘COLOR’ or shade.” Excerpts from the Willie Lynch Letter
Until we recognize that there is still a deeply rooted “hate” problem in this country particularly, we won’t ever be able to love as Jesus instructed us to love. Underneath the surface of the spirit of hate is “apathy” (“they need to get over it”) and a “pretense” (“I don’t see what the problem is”) that this type of hatred doesn’t still exist and at least a heavy residue from it. We can’t truly be the salt of the earth and the light of the world and hate God’s special people. We have to constantly check the motives of our hearts. We have to constantly check our love gauge. Do we truly love our neighbors as ourselves? What specific actions do we take toward loving the chosen people of God? If we’re taking longer than two minutes to answer, we need to assess our hearts.
Brown people, be vigilant. The effects of these schemes were deeply rooted in the system and ingrained in the minds of our forefathers. Are we still separated by age and shade as a people? We have to break the cycle and psychological warfare inflicted to keep us separated through spiritual warfare. We have to make spiritually conscious efforts to recognize these devices and how they have affected our interactions and feelings toward each other as a people. It’s time to wake up.
