“One Man: Two Women, Three Women, Four” by Dr.Jené Walker

Although God said it isn’t good for man to be alone, God didn’t intend for a man to have two or three or four women. God created “A” suitable helper for man.

Genesis 2:18 (NIV) “Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.’”

Where did God’s intention for one man to be joined with one woman get distorted? Of course it was because of the original sin of Adam and Eve. After they sinned, all kinds of sin was birthed in the world. After Adam and Eve’s sin, then it was Cain’s murder of his brother Abel. Then Cain’s great great great grandson Lamech arrived on the scene. This is the first occurrence at which I observe the greed, lust, and arrogance of man birthed from the jealousy and hate of man in his great great great grandfather.

Genesis 4:19-24 “Lamech married two women. The first was named Adah, and the second was Zillah. Adah gave birth to Jabal, who was the first of those who raise livestock and live in tents. His brother’s name was Jubal, the first of all who play the harp and flute. Lamech’s other wife, Zillah, gave birth to a son named Tubal-cain. He became an expert in forging tools of bronze and iron. Tubal-cain had a sister named Naamah. One day Lamech said to his wives, ‘Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; listen to me, you wives of Lamech. I have killed a man who attacked me, a young man who wounded me. If someone who kills Cain is punished seven times, then the one who kills me will be punished seventy-seven times!’”

” Lamech married two women.” And so it begins, the spirit of “Lamech” which causes men to lust for more than one woman. He had a haughty, arrogant spirit which caused him to kill two men and profess what God professed over Cain to ensure Cain lived and suffered his punishment. Lamech, playing God, said he would be avenged seventy and sevenfold. We won’t even get into the dialogue about the two women and what caused them to forget who they were created to be and accept being a second wife.

When you study the Bible you can see how this spirit penetrates one wise man’s heart so severely that he takes on wives from pagan religions and their idolatry together eventually cause the split of the powerful nation of Israel. And so it is today, men infected by the spirit of Lamech declare that they will “take unto themselves two or three or four wives” to satisfy their lustful, greedy, and arrogant spirit. They have been deceived into thinking it is not sinful and even use scriptural references to justify their wrong. “God allowed it (adultery, concubines, polygamy) in the Bible days…” There are so many sins that God “seemingly” tolerates but a discerning spirit reveals that not only are consequences being suffered now for sin but if we don’t come of out sin now, the greatest most unbearable consequences are yet to come.

Men, although it is not meant for you to be alone, pray now and renounce the spirit of Lamech. God did not intend for you to have more than one wife. He that finds “A” wife, finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. Your greed for more than one wife, like Solomon, can cause the kingdom in your household and lineage to fall. It causes destruction in the kingdom of God. God can and will deliver you from your lustful, greedy desires. God can liken your heart to His. Be content with the one wife, A wife, one suitable helper and get your favor back. Jené Elaine Walker
