In marriage circles, it is extremely popular to claim “we’re standing for our marriages,” we’re “fighting” for our marriages. It is also a seemingly prevalent and universal issue that one spouse isn’t standing, fighting, or even consistent in his or her desire to battle for the marriage.
God wants to know how can you stand for, fight for, or desire to battle for a marriage when we don’t even stand on His Word and fight for our relationship with Him? We don’t even desire a relationship with Him. We don’t even engage the enemy in warfare in our own lives. If we can’t consistently pray and read God’s Word, how can we dare put pressure on a spouse to be consistent in his or her desire for us?
Change your stance. Your stand is on the Word of God. Your fight is for a relationship with God. Your battle plan is a spiritual plan. Your priority is on heavenly things. God will work out all other things in His timing, according to His will. Jené Elaine Walker
