Today marks the end of another seven-day cycle of our three cycles of sevens. We have reached a pivotal point in our 21-day fast. Self-control, faith, and obedience will cause the Lord to go before you now and break the walls that have kept you out or held you in. You know what your wall is. It could be a wall of doubt, a wall of financial lack, a wall of dissension in your relationship, a wall of a wayward spouse, a wall of hopelessness, a wall of stagnation on your job, a wall of hurt, a wall of demonic oppression, or a wall of guilt and condemnation. Whatever your wall is, it has to come down. God has delivered the city into your hands. If it is a spiritual goal or vision from the Lord that hasn’t been easy to receive or obtain, God has delivered it into your hands. If it is spiritual wisdom you’ve prayed and fasted for, God has delivered it into your hands. If it is clarity about your vision, God has delivered it into your hands.
Joshua 6:2-5 NIV “Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.’”
It is extremely important that you follow all of God’s instructions in His Word. When God delivers the city into your hands, you cannot revert back to disobedience. There are sacred and devoted things that must not be tampered with. You must continue to fast and pray. You must continue to tithe. You must continue to bear the fruit of the spirit. You must continue to obey His instructions in His Word. Do not bring trouble on yourself by being disobedient. Often times we tell God, “If you would just do this for me, I will never do that again.” Ecclesiastes 5:4 says, “When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.”
Joshua 6:15-18 NIV “On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, ‘Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the Lord. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent. But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it.’”
Whatever the Holy Spirit has revealed to you that God requires of you to gain an entry into or an exit out of your wall, do it. If God says, “March around your wall seven times.” Do it. It may not make sense to you – God has told me to do some things that I just couldn’t understand but I did them – do it anyway. If the Holy Spirit tells you to be quiet and not make a sound for seven days, do it. If the Holy Spirit tells you to shout right before your breakthrough or breakout, do it. The next seven days are pivotal. Your obedience is going to be crucial for your spiritual growth. Stay focused on God, not the wall. The wall is God’s problem, not yours. If your conversation is more about the wall than God, you’ve lost focus. Stay on track. Keep fasting. God has amazing blessings and spiritual elevation for our obedience. Dr.J.
