Why are you getting so comfortable with this world? Why are your vision and goal for the fast both worldly? Why is your focus on getting things and storing them up in this world when this world is not your home?
James 4:4 (Amplified) You adulteresses [disloyal sinners—flirting with the world and breaking your vow to God]! Do you not know that being the world’s friend [that is, loving the things of the world] is being God’s enemy?
Revisit your journal. Review what you’ve written for each day so far. Are you focusing on the worldly gains, treasures, and things for worldly pleasures? God wants to know what you are willing to give up to get closer to Him.
Our fast helps to bring our sins to the surface. Through your sacrifice and study, the Holy Spirit begins to reveal your sin to you and it doesn’t feel good. Hold on and don’t get discouraged because purging is good for you.
Now that the fast is exposing areas of weakness and sin, we have to change our focus and now is the time. If our focus is on things of the world and we become friendly with fleshly desires, we’re making allies with satan and enemies with God. God hates sin and the things of the world. Your goal and vision must be rooted in developing your spiritual foundation. Your aim is the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. Everything God tells you about your vision will be things that will lead you toward your heavenly home.
If you bless me with a husband God, we will be equally yoked and go into ministry together winning souls for your kingdom until Christ returns. If you bless me financially to get out of debt God, it will be so that I can tithe and give to your people more freely. You’re blessing me to be a blessing. If you bless me with ___________________. Fill in the blank with your vision. Do the things you’re fasting about have to do with comfort in this world? To build up treasures on earth? For selfish motives? Ask God to purge you now. It’s early in the fast. This is the perfect time for the Holy Spirit to dispel spiritual misconceptions. Our home is over in glory. We can’t be friends with God and the devil’s kingdom too. Dr.J.
